Reviews

@the3winesmen

"Ahhh this is a wine drinkers wine.  No BS to be seen. Just a fantastic ‘no brainer’ of a wine.  As the label says “Balance and Contentment”.  Is there anything more you want in life, let alone your wine? Just when you thought Rosé couldn’t be sophisticated, UMAMU stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.”

Huon Hooke

"Fresh-looking, medium to light-pink colour with a trace of purple lingering. Spicy, cedary, tobacco and regional snowpea aromas combine on the nose. There's a suggestion of barrel-fermented sauvignon blanc about it. It's nutty and drying on the tongue. The palate is intense and piercing, long and refined, with excellent depth of flavour, savoury and not simplistic."

James Halliday

"Pale crimson in colour, but with excellent brightness. Dry style, sparked with spice, run with redcurrant and with a softness both to its acid and to its texture; it almost feels cuddly."

Dear UMAMU family,

This wine is inspired by all those who touch our lives.

Our first Margaret River Rosé – 82% Cabernet Franc 18% Merlot – which was produced from a 0.4ha parcel of Cabernet Franc planted in 2001 with a top up of Merlot planted in 1997. Both plots at our UMAMU Estate just 10km of the Margaret River itself, one of Australia's most prized wine regions.

We approached this Margaret River Rosé by having an open canopy all of the growing season, so the fruit received gentle dappled light, which assisted with the growth of supple tannins and fragrant berry perfumes.

The fruit was cold crushed to press and cold settled before a 12°c ferment in barrel for 20 days. Then aged in barrel on lees for four months before bottling.

Beautiful delicate wine, delightful on its own or paired with food.

Cheers!
